XRD Lab at LCAD

The extended reality design lab at our campus went from a concept in my mind to reality. I was able to produce visualizations using Cinema 4D prior to the lab being built. I wanted the lab to be able to support VR and also virtual production with a full 180 degree 3 wall green screen. The lab also needed to be outfitted with PCs with Nvidia graphics cards to Support Cinema 4D and octane render. This would be the first time that I would be able to bring my full professional workflow into my classroom. Students would now be able to use GPU rendering just like most professionals. OTOY’s octane render has made a huge difference in the quality of work that my students are able to produce and has greatly reduce the amount of time it takes them to complete their assignments. Design students reside heavily on the Macintosh side of things, so for most of them this will be their first time working on PCs.
